The protest itself was really moving. It was organized by local high-school students and the attendance was incredible. I don't know the exact figures but 100s and 100s of people rocked up to show their support. It was really awesome. SOMa, where I live is quite a diverse (and very liberal) community so not sure how this best reflects other parts of the US but for me, it certainly feels like there's an overwhelming want (and need!) for change. The BLM movement is being talked about a lot in the press (about f*cking time!) so my hope is that rallies such as these will continue to spread the message far and wide, and lead to real changes in US society.
